After consistently watching anime over the last few years, I've started to notice something, and that something is that anime licensors like Funimation and Bandai don't spend money on TV ads or try to put their shows on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim or SyFy's Ani-Monday blocks. Why is that?

Hetalia in US via Tokyopop!
So it would seem the Axis Powers Hetalia manga will be seeing an English release thanks to Tokyopop picking up the manga license, while Funimation streamed it on their site, indicating a US release for the anime as well. I have not personally read the series, but I have heard it is very funny. Since it's getting a US release, maybe I'll pick it up. What really gets me though, is that Tokyopop announced they were going to let several licenses run out. Were they freeing up room for new licenses? I don't know, but at least Hetalia is coming to North America.
